So what’s the big trend coming out of the 2015 International Housewares Show?

How do brands plan on inspiring consumers out of the winter doldrums and into the spring kitchen and home upgrade mode? Two words: Artisan appliances.

After walking aisle after aisle of innovative products at this year’s show, it’s clear that artisan products will dominate kitchens in the coming year.

We’ll see a movement away from all-in-one products and toward specialized appliances and artisan tools, enabling us to create gourmet, delicious food at home. Here’s a sneak peek at some of these new products coming to consumer’s kitchens this year.

Philips Pasta Maker

For most families, it proves difficult to get a home-cooked meal on the table every day. With parents and children busy after school and work, it’s even less likely that the meals are homemade from scratch. With the new Pasta Maker from Philips, pasta from scratch can be made in about 15 minutes. It gets better – the machine creates the pasta for you, so you can go on with your busy day while the noodles are being prepared. All you have to do is put the ingredients in the pasta maker. Then it mixes the ingredients, kneads the dough, and automatically creates one of the four varieties all by itself. This innovative machine gives a whole new meaning to fresh pasta, and although the $300 price tag may seem a bit high, the “pastabilities” are endless. You can find this product at Willams-Sonoma’s website. Hoping to get a chance to try this one ourselves in our Influence Central kitchen for a more detailed review.

Bonne O

Bonne O
, an up-and-coming startup, created a product that will innovate carbonated beverages. You can now make your own sparkling water filled with fresh fruit and vegetables (think cucumbers), and there’s nothing like fresh mint or basil in the mix. All you do is choose what fruits or vegetables you would like to put in your drink, add a small portion to the machine, and it produces an unbelievably flavorful drink. The carbonation process is self-contained in the bottle, which means you can add alcohol and create drinks such as a Lime Gin Fizz. The product is not yet for sale.

KitchenAid Craft Coffee Portfolio

The KitchenAid Craft Coffee line of products – the Siphon Coffee Brewer, Precision Press Coffee Maker, and Burr Grinder – allow consumers to experience artisan coffee – right in their own homes.

The Siphon Coffee Brewer conveniently delivers a bright rich siphon coffee taste with an automated home system. KitchenAid utilizes vacuum technology that fully immerses the grounds in water to create deep, rich flavor – every coffee connoisseur’s dream. The new KitchenAid Precision Press Coffee Maker delivers delicious French press coffee with a simplified brew process. This press comes equipped with an integrated scale and timer that refines the classic brew method by measuring coffee and water by weight, rather than volume, to maximize complex coffee flavors.

The Precision Press was named a finalist in the Kitchen Electrics category of the International Housewares Show’s prestigious Innovation Awards. Lastly, the KitchenAid Burr Grinder starts the craft coffee process off right with the perfect grind that ensures a rich, robust cup.

The Siphon Coffee Brewer will be available in June at a suggested retail price of $250 and the Burr Grinder will be available in July at a suggested retail price of $300. The Precision Press Coffee Maker will be available in September at a suggested retail price of $150.

Precise Heat Mixing Bowl

While positioned for versatile uses, the primary function of this new device focuses on melted chocolate creations. The KitchenAid Precise Heat Mixing Bowl simplifies traditional slow-cooker techniques to make even the trickiest temperature-sensitive ingredients and recipes a breeze. This innovative product is the first from KitchenAid to serve double duty as a stand-alone countertop appliance and Stand Mixer accessory. This slow cooker maintains a precise temperature and the mixing bowl comes with a flex-edge beater, wire whip, and dough hook to keep dishes consistently mixing and evenly cooked under low heat. The Precise Heat Mixing Bowl is available now at the suggested retail price of $330 and sells online at Williams-Sonoma.

Black + Decker 5 Minute Pizza Oven and Snack Maker

Who doesn’t love a great slice of pizza? Homemade pizza has become a popular trend, but one of the biggest downfalls of making pizza from scratch at home involves waiting for the oven to preheat to a high temperature and for the pizza to finish baking. Now, Black + Decker has created the 5 Minute Pizza Oven and Snack Maker – and it bakes pizza to perfection. The 5 Minute Pizza Oven preheats faster than ever and bakes up to a 12” family-sized pizza. Black + Decker have custom-engineered the heating elements to accelerate the cooking process, making the wait for homemade pizza a thing of the past. This product is equipped with a ceramic-coated tray, acting like a pizza stone, which doubles as a pizza peel when used with the removable handle. The 5 Minute Pizza Oven and Snack Maker brings a restaurant-quality dinner from the freezer to the table in just five easy minutes. The oven has a suggested retail price of $150. Can’t wait to try this out – may end up being used by our entire office – and their children!
