Panasonic LUMIX G7 Photo Contest

While posing subjects for a photograph, I’m constantly searching for a sideways glance, an unexpected laugh, touch, or raw emotion that makes the picture feel just a little unique to that instance. For me, photography has always been about capturing these ‘in-between,’ fleeting moments. I never know when these moments will occur, and often times miss them in the bustle of organizing a shot, but when I do, it’s photography gold!

Until now, in order to capture the perfect candid (an oxymoron, I know), I would rely on my heightened sense of discovery for these instances, or the more common situation: pure luck.

This year we’ve been fortunate to work with the wonderful people of Panasonic as they launched their new Panasonic LUMIX G7 with 4K technology. To be honest, prior to the LUMIX G7, I knew very little about 4K technology but as the resident Mom Central photographer, I was not going to shy away from tinkering around with a shiny new camera with the latest technology.

I love many features of this camera; it’s SO lightweight compared to my DSLR and doesn’t hurt my shoulder when carrying it around for hours. But above all, the ability to shoot in 4K is incredible. Truly taking the guesswork out capturing the best photo, no matter what stylistic preference you have for a picture, 4K allows you to shoot in video bursts and start/stop modes, then review your footage and isolate your favorite photo in a single 8-megapixel frame.

From trying to capture a family photo (with everyone’s eyes open!), or grabbing that perfect shot of unwrapping gifts, the Panasonic LUMIX G7 allows you to never miss these special moments. Even better still, you can then use the camera’s WiFi capabilities and upload the photos directly to your phone to share with friends and family.

Over the last year we’ve worked with an incredible group of Moms to put the Panasonic LUMIX G7 to the test, challenging them to photo-journal their family based on four themes: Summer in Motion, Day Trips & Destinations, Back to School, and Halloween.
