Driver’s licenses have haunted the dreams of parents with teenagers for generations. In today’s world, the effect is tenfold with the advent of smartphones. While in certain states texting while driving is against the law, this is not the only culprit. These phones can easily connect to Facebook, Twitter, email, and more.
Can you trust your kids when they say they won’t use their phone while driving? With all of the temptations, parents everywhere could rest easier if they had a protector.
The Taser Protector Safe Driver System does just that. The package includes a hardware base unit that is installed in the car, access to smart phone applications, and an online management system.
Once installed, when the driver turns on the car the base unit connects through Bluetooth to an app on the driver’s smartphone. This app blocks the driver from using all of the phone’s capabilities except hands-free functions such as Bluetooth calling.
Other features can also be enabled that notify users when they are driving over the speed limit or simply driving aggressively. Additionally, if the car is stolen, the GPS tracking system within the unit can track down the vehicle and help remedy the situation.
As a parent, what is the right decision? Not allowing a smartphone at all, letting your kids have the phone with the catch of the Protector Safe Driver System, or simply trusting completely in the judgment of your teens? Although a debate may ensue, there is a common interest around such technology as the electronics world at times threatens parental anxiety. Safety for kids of all ages is the common goal no matter how you choose to ensure it.
