Disclosure: We were invited to attend the opening night of the U by Kotex pop-up Period Shop. All opinions are our own.
It’s always redeeming when companies listen to, and connect with, consumers on social media, but it was pretty amazing to see how U by Kotex took a fan’s suggestion and brought it to life.
A college student in New York posted on Tumblr in February that she called for a period shop. “A space where we can feel comfortable and respected” during what can be a difficult time of the month. Sarah, the college student, shared “My dream period shop has: designer pads/tampons – ice cream – heating pad/phone charging station – mani/pedi stations – live DJ obvi- and sweatpants!” U by Kotex was listening, and decided to create Sarah’s (and every woman’s!) dream pop-up Period Shop on trendy Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The shop boasted everything Sarah envisioned – and more – from the DJ to ice cream to hot water bottle cozies. Sarah herself was there to see her Tumblr dream become a reality, and was so impressed to see how her vision had been brought to life.
Women could come into the shop and pick up their favorite U by Kotex tampons, liners, and pads, and even buy items such as tampon-printed sweats. U by Kotex products fit right in, with their colorful printed wrappers.
The pop-up Period Shop was a fun way to make shopping for our periods less of a pain, bringing everything we need together in a fun and engaging way. U by Kotex proved a perfect sponsor for this event, as a company always trying to make our periods a little easier!
