No matter your philosophies on allowance and treating, there comes a time in every mom’s life when she wants to reward kids for a job well done. Where philosophies on rewarding differ is in HOW we reward, and with WHAT.
Here’s a list of fun, non-monetary rewards you may want to consider, depending on a variety of factors including age of child:
- Choice of Friday’s takeout menu
- Movie date
- Skating
- Trip to the mall
- Geocache day with picnic
- Design and prepare a whole meal
- Bowling/mini-golf
- Mani/Pedi
- Board game night
- Paint canvas or pottery at an art studio
- Extra screen time
- Mom and Dad act as gopher (“go for…”) for a whole day
- Stay up an extra 30 minutes past bedtime
- Sleepover night with friends
