I’m a big fan of suspense novels and Michael Palmer’s Political Suicide had just the perfect amount of twists and turns to keep me involved. A great book to blaze through while lounging on the beach, this novel keeps your attention. From the very murder of Congressman Elias Colston to all the investigations in between, this book will keep you on your toes from start to finish.

Dr. Gary McHugh, known as the society doctor around the Capital, finds himself being counseled by Dr. Lou Welcome as he attempts to recover from his alcoholism. McHugh, who lacks concern for his habit and refuses to attend AA meetings, finds himself in a horrible mess. When McHugh was found drunk and unconscious amidst a car wreck, and his congressman patient was found shot to death, the story begins to unravel.

From a corrupt congress to conspiracy within conspiracy—the novel leaves you thrilled from one plot twist to another. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a great, quick read that will leave you absorbed in the story. Political Suicide can be purchased online or at your favorite bookstore.

The book is also available as an audiobook from Macmillan Audio. You can listen to an audio clip at the bottom of this post.
