Traveling anywhere overnight with a baby makes for a lot of prep work and schlepping. Since my other daughter is a teenager now, I barely remember having to pack her up for vacation. These days I just remind her to pack her toothbrush. Now that I’m back to living life with a baby, I’m reminded of the stress that accompanies packing up for an overnight stay.

Moms spend a lot of time shopping. Whether for clothing, school supplies, toys or groceries, shopping takes up much of our time and money. Around the holiday season, the hassle of maneuvering through crowds and standing in endless lines saps the fun out of hitting the stores, making it feel like just another chore on our to-do list.

I’ve been in a cooking rut lately. I don’t know if it’s my pregnancy, my picky toddler or lack of inspiration, but I’m just not in to it. I’ve had these moments before and I’ve generally jolted myself out of the rut by flipping through recipe books or watching Food Network for a couple of hours. That’s just not happening right now.

When my son Gavin turned six months old a few weeks ago, I quickly noticed a change in him. Busy, busy, busy best sums it up! From pulling, clawing and chewing anything he can get his hands on (including me!) or rolling and reaching on the floor desperately trying to figure out how to crawl, it is purely awesome to watch him discover the world around him. I forgot how much I love this stage – not too mobile - but so interactive and curious. I can’t get enough!
