Coolibar Sun Blanket review

Summer is here, and sun protection is a big concern in my family. I have pretty fair skin and am freckled from head to toe. My little one seems to be taking on my coloring with some reddish hair and a fair complexion.

When my 13-year-old was a baby, she was somewhat olive skinned and no matter what kind of sunscreen I used on her, she tanned right up. I don’t think she’s ever had a sunburn! With the baby, I make her wear swim shirts for sun protection, big floppy hats and tote an umbrella around in the warmer months. This is why I was intrigued by the Coolibar Sun Blanket.

Safe sun protection for babies

The Coolibar blanket is great for moms of little ones. It has an instant UPF 50+ sun coverage. It comes in a multitude of colors and is just the right size for any young child, plus it’s soft and cuddly. It easily can fit in any stroller beach tote, or diaper bag. It can also work for mom to use in covering her legs by the beach or pool.

The Sun Blanket uses ZnO Suntect technology. The fabric works by having zinc oxide in every fiber of the blanket, which is the same ingredient in sunscreen to block UVA and UVB burns. The zinc oxide is stitched so far into the blanket it cannot wash or wear out.

At a retail price of $24, it’s an affordable addition to your summer supply of sunscreen. I used it to throw over the stroller when out walking on those particularly sunny days, when applying sunscreen seems like a too much of a hassle for a short walk. I’ve found it’s also great at the beach when the little one wants to take a nap in the tent and I want to protect her from reflective rays off the ocean.
