Have Fun Making Your Own Beauty Products with Handcrafted Honey Bee

Looking for a fun girls’ night activity? With our busy schedules, it’s fun to take some time out for ourselves, and we recently discovered a new way to spend time together that’s more exciting than our typical dinner parties or happy hours with Handcrafted Honey Bee.

Handcrafted Honey Bee was started by the parents of two little boys, who became more conscious about the products and ingredients they put in and on their bodies after becoming parents. They started a bath and body business of their own, yet still received numerous customized requests from customers with specific needs and restrictions due to allergies and personal preferences.

After teaching classes on how to make homemade lip balms and body products, the founders decided to take their business to the next level by offering personalized do-it-yourself kits to make lip balms, lip glosses, clay masks, deodorants, salves and more. The kits are easily categorized on the website for ideal activities for Moms to do together, or that are great for Moms to do with their children. Each kit has a noted level of difficulty, so it’s very easy to shop based on the age of your children.

We decided to test out the lip balm kit, and had so much fun crafting our custom creations! While ordering, we chose our favorite flavors and shades from a myriad of varieties.

A box arrived from Handcrafted Honey Bee, containing perfectly portioned out ingredients and detailed step-by-step instructions. All we needed was two glass jars and either a microwave or stovetop to heat up our ingredients. The instruction booklet even let us know what each of the ingredients does for our lips, and why these are included in our kits. Since the ingredients are all-natural, and we could see exactly what we were adding to our lip balm mixture, we felt even better about the results!

We combined the ingredients per the instructions, and saw how ingredients like avocado butter, vitamin E, beeswax and lanolin transform into pineapple and melon-flavored lip balms. The process took only about an hour (including the time it took our lip balm to cool and set), and allowed us plenty of time to catch up, have some snacks, and wait for our balms to finish. The kits even come with personalized labels, should you wish to mark your flavors or give the flavors your own personalized name!

By the end of our afternoon, we each ended up with about 10 lip balms. These make great gifts for our girlfriends, and let’s face it, these are certainly something we all use on a daily basis, so it never hurts to have some extras on hand when we need them!
