Disclosure: Mom Central received a sample of the Babble Band to facilitate our post. All opinions are our own.

BabbleBand2Wearable technology – convenient, instantaneous, and fulfills our needs for a constant influx of information, has reached the world of baby monitoring. Summer Infant, a leader in innovative baby products, has made it a reality, with the Babble Band… the first and only wearable audio baby monitor.

I use and appreciate many of Summer Infant’s other products, including the Sharp View HD High Definition Video Monitor, which I already shared insights on. I love the functionality of that monitor, so I wondered whether a wearable monitor was necessary, but after my experience with the Babble Band, I would definitely recommend it as a supplement to the infant monitor you currently use.

Babble Band1I never realized how often I checked the monitor until I integrated the Babble Band. For instance, I usually try to workout after my little one has gone to bed. I’ll put the video monitor on the table next to me so I can periodically reach over and look at the camera to check in. Now I work out while wearing the Babble Band, and I know that I will be alerted if she stirs or wakes. It keeps me from feeling the need to constantly stop what I am doing to peer over, and check in. I can go about my business around the house wearing it, which sure beats carrying around the video monitor with me (yes, I’ve done this in the past)!

The audio transmitter doubles as a recharging base for the band. The battery lasts around 8 hours, and I’ve never been in a position where I have needed to charge it urgently. Currently, the Babble Band is available at Babies R’ Us, Target, Amazon and BuyBuy Baby for about $60. This will prove a great registry gift for a new Mom, who may not even think she needs technology like this. But once she uses it, she’ll appreciate the freedom, mobility, and peace of mind it allows.
