~ Disclosure: Influence Central was invited to visit the Merck Manuals Pop-Up at Chelsea Market in NYC. All opinions are our own.
With the ability to search our symptoms online, and all the potentially erroneous information available on the Internet, it is more important than ever for families to have easy access to a trusted, online medical resource.
Merck Manuals is one of the world’s most widely-used medical resources, and has been since 1899! Merck Manuals just announced the launch of Global Medical Knowledge 2020 – a worldwide initiative to make the best current medical information accessible to nearly three billion consumers and healthcare professionals by 2020. Now, consumers can visit merckmanuals.com to have access to accurate online medical information. The valuable, reliable content which is available at no cost to the public, will also be available through a mobile app in multiple languages by 2020!
MerckManuals.com is authored by 350 independent medical experts from around the world. It is available at no cost, requires no registration, and the user experience is not compromised by advertisements or other commercial messaging.
An online survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Merck Manuals underscores the need for access to credible medical information, showing that four in 10 Americans struggle when it comes to their health and medical knowledge levels, with one in three saying they are “trying to keep up”, while 6 percent say they “barely know the basics.” This startling survey also revealed that 79 percent of Americans believe having access to the same information their doctor has access to would improve their overall understanding of their health.
We were invited to test out MerckManuals.com firsthand at Chelsea Market in NYC, where the brand was hosting a pop-up event.
We got to test our own knowledge about medical conditions using the Quizzes section of the site, and found the information available to be quite thorough and easy to digest. We feel it would be great resource to have on-hand when one of these conditions popped up in real life.
One of our favorite features was the Videos and Animations content. There were several interesting animations that showcased everything from anthrax to allergies to appendicitis in an engaging, visual format.
We love how you can search through medical topics to find relevant information and conditions to your search.
